New Delhi: As effrontery goes, few can beat it. US-based Lashkar jihadi Tahawwur Hussain Rana, an accomplice of David Coleman Headley, has claimed to be a disciple of Mahatma Gandhi in order to escape conviction.
Rana, who along with Headley is at the centre of a widening probe into Lashkar’s jihadi network, has said that he believes in non-violence, is a member of Iqbal Society and his beliefs were similar to those of Gandhi.
The FBI document against him has demolished the facade by marshalling evidence that proves that Rana, just like Headley, was aware of the 26/11 plot and supported it. It also says that Rana knew the retired Pakistan army officer Abdur Rahman Hashim Syed alias Pasha who was Headley’s direct link to Ilyas Kashmiri.
The FBI has established this with recordings of Rana’s conversation with Headley post-26/11.....
